Medium-weight roofing underlay with waterproof adhesive strips

Advantages

  • Maximum protection for the roof structure: excellent hail impact resistance as per ETA-23/0532 and VKF (HR5 class)
  • Reliable rainproof roof: serves as a sub-roof underlay for roof pitches ≥10° (2.1:12) with TESCON NAIDECK as an additional sealing measure on rigid subsurfaces, as per ETA-23/0532
  • Efficient installation: serves as a roofing underlay with waterproof seams for roof pitches ≥14° (3:12) without the need for additional sealing measures, as per ETA-23/0532
  • Quick waterproof adhesion: with sealing lip at the 'connect’ self-adhesive strips on the long edges of the membrane
  • Flexible planning of construction schedules: at least 3 months of outdoor exposure
  • Permanent protection: high resistance to ageing and heat of the functional membrane
  • Reliable during the construction phase: suitable as a temporary covering during the construction period

Areas of application

For use as a diffusion-open roofing underlay on roof sheathing, MDF and wood-fibre underlay panels, and on all thermal insulation materials, including blown-in insulation materials.

Planning and construction guidelines

Areas of application

SOLITEX QUANTHO 3000 connect can be used as a roofing underlay membrane, as temporary covering or to create a rainproof sub-roof.
It stops cold external air from flowing through the building structure and ensures that the thermal insulation works in an optimal manner.

  • Roofing underlay with seam and perforation protection for roof pitches ≥14° (3:12) as per ETA-23/0532 without the need for additional sealing measures such as TESCON NAIDECK. Exception: installation onto roughly sawn sheathing.
  • Rainproof sub-roof for roof pitches ≥10° (2.1:12) with TESCON NAIDECK as an additional sealing measure on rigid, even subsurfaces.
  • Suitable as a temporary covering during the construction phase in accordance with the applicable national regulations
  • Excellent hail impact resistance as per ETA-23/0532 and VKF/AEAI (Switzerland) with hail impact resistance class HR5.
  • If blown-in insulation materials are used, the use of a reinforced SOLITEX roofing underlay is recommended.

Use as a temporary covering

This roofing underlay membrane can be used as a temporary covering to protect the building structure during the construction phase for 4 months in Central and Northern Europe, Canada and the northern US, or 3 months in the rest of the world.

The pro clima sealing products ORCON F and TESCON VANA are to be used for sealing of overlap joints and other transitions. The long edges of the membranes have ‘connect’ self-adhesive strips for achieving reliable exterior seals. The TESCON NAIDECK nail-sealing tape is required for installations on uneven subsurfaces (e.g. solid-wood sheathing); this tape is not required on smooth subsurfaces (e.g. rafters, wood-based panels, wood-fibre underlay panels).

Installation and sticking of the membranes should be carried out in accordance with the applicable national regulations in the country where the membranes are to be used.

No rear ventilation of the insulation layer is necessary

Roofing underlay membranes make rear ventilation of thermal insulation materials unnecessary. pro clima SOLITEX roofing underlay membranes can be installed directly onto the thermal insulation in all cases, i.e. the insulation material can fill the full depth of the rafters.
In the case of non-insulated attics, it is advantageous to provide hip and ridge ventilation in order to ventilate the attic space. Complicated and frequently ineffective ventilation features on the eaves, ridge, valley, hip and roof fittings are thus not necessary.

Increased indoor humidity

These highly permeable membranes allow moisture to dry out of the structure to the outside more easily and more quickly. This is advantageous both during the construction phase and during normal use (if moisture contained in the indoor air penetrates into the structure by diffusion or convection).

As a rule, moisture that arises due to construction work should be able to escape the building structure quickly by ventilation through open windows. Dryers can help to speed up the drying process in wintertime. This helps to avoid permanently high levels of relative humidity.

No ‘tent effect’

Pore-free SOLITEX membranes offer particularly good watertightness against driving rain. The membrane can be installed over the surface of insulation materials or onto the roof sheathing. A tent effect is reliably prevented by the monolithic functional film and the multi-layer structure. The term ‘tent effect’ describes the phenomenon whereby waterproof tent sheets allow large amounts of moisture into tents at points where they are in contact with inside objects.

Rainproof roofing underlays and sub-roofs

These membranes may be used as temporary coverings and additional rain-protection measures, in accordance with the locally applicable regulations.

Approval and composition

The special membrane layer in SOLITEX QUANTHO 3000 connect roofing underlay membranes has a TPU membrane as its functional layer.
SOLITEX QUANTHO 3000 connect has been tested as a roofing underlay membrane in accordance with the requirements of EAD 030218-01-0402; the declared performance can be found in the DoP and in ETA-23/0532.
On this basis, SOLITEX QUANTHO 3000 connect carries the CE mark.
