pro clima EPDs help to deliver sustainability and transparency
An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) documents and describes the environmental impact of construction materials, products and components on the basis of their ecobalances and their functional and technical properties. This quantitative, objective, verified information relates to the entire life cycle of the relevant construction product. For this reason, EPDs serve as an important foundation for the assessment of the sustainability of built structures.
As a pioneer in ecological and sustainable construction, we at pro clima have always provided transparent product information. EPDs are the logical next step along this path. Our EPDs for pro clima system products provide all the information that is relevant for the construction of sustainable buildings and for certification of these buildings. In this way, these EPDs are an invaluable resource for architects, project planners, installers, investors, facility managers and auditors.
The main focus is the provision of data that serves as the basis for assessing ecological building quality. Comprehensive, detailed life cycle assessment (LCA) data is presented in the EPDs in a clear, systematic format in just a few pages. This data serves as a basis for the description and assessment of built structures and facilitates the identification of those buildings with particularly low environmental impacts. The construction phase, the service phase including any possible re-purposing of the building, and ultimate dismantling and disposal are all taken into account as part of overall life cycle analysis of the building.
